The Damara originated from East Asia, Egypt and more recently from
Namibia and South Africa.
Nearly three years ago we imported Damaras from Australia where there are thousands of Damaras and crossbreeds.

Health Benefits of Damara Lamb
The Damara does not require shearing and has a large fat tail, which
stores the fat leaving very lean meat in the body.
A recent analysis of the fat content of the Damara lamb reported
that the Damara lamb samples (steak, back strap and rack) contained
less than half the amount of total fat as found in equivalent cuts
of trim lamb.
In other words, the meat is ideal for those interested in their
heart health because it is low in total fat and low in
saturated fat
